Greetings! My name is Elizabeth Chancellor and this is my page. This is just a little about  me and my interests.

I am a middle school band director in Byron, Peach County, Georgia and love it. I also assist the Peach County High School Band. I will be starting my thirteenth year as a band director this fall. I began my teaching career at Dodge County Middle School as a band director and, for a short time, a chorus director. In 2003, 2005, and 2006 I was  honored by being included in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who Among America's Educators, and Who's Who Among Women. I consider it a great honor because I was nominated by former students. In 2005 I was selected as Byron Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2006. Another very special honor as I was selected by my colleagues.

I grew up and have since moved back to Warner Robins, Georgia--the International City and home of Robins Air Force Base. I graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1986 where I was a member of the Dixie Demon Marching Band.  After high school I attended school and graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia where I was a member of Southern Pride Marching Band, GSUSWE (Georgia Southern University Symphonic Wind Ensemble), the Southern Chorale, and the Statesboro-Georgia Southern Symphony. I was active in Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Band Fraternity, and Sigma Alpha Iota, International Women's Music Fraternity.

I have always loved music. I began singing in public at around age 3 and began piano lessons when I was 9. I took up the flute at 10 and have been playing ever since. I sing when I get the chance, too, although it's not as often as playing flute. My taste in music varies; I like everything from heavy metal to classical to jazz. I love Rush, The Beatles, Metallica (whom I had the pleasure to meet back in Feb. of 1989 in Savannah), Led Zeppelin, the Moody Blues, any southern rock like Stillwater (Warner Robins' own!), Allman Brothers (another Middle Georgia band), Michael Franks, and too many others to mention. I appreciate most music, but there's a lot of junk out there, too. I like "good" music, despite the genre. If it makes you feel good then it can be all bad!

I am a single mom with a wonderful 16-year old  named Ashley. She is the joy of my life! See her page here.

I have two wonderful parents, Connie and Lomus, and two great brothers, Michael and Douglas. Check out the photo page to see what we look like:-)

I enjoy many hobbies. Aside from playing the flute and singing, I enjoy listening to music, reading, swimming, cooking, and genealogy. You can find information about my Chancellor family line--paternal line--and the Lyons family line--maternal line--by using their respective links. Genealogical organizations that I am a member of are the Magna Charta Dames and the Daughters of the American Revolution,  joining under my ancestor John Cooper.  I am also a member of the Cabiness Chapter (Forsyth, Georgia) of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Great-Granddaughters Club of the UDC, and the Daughters of 1812. I am currently submitting applications for the  Order of Descendants of Ancient Planters (through Richard and Isabella Pace),  Winthrop Society, The Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, and  The Mayflower Society (I descend from 2 different Mayflower lines--maternal and paternal).

Please feel free to e-mail me and please sign the guest book before you leave.
